Mastering the art of public speaking
Posted by Nathalie Cano
Giving a presentation isn’t the easiest thing especially in a room full of strangers. I’m always looking for examples to see how people master the art of public speaking. Amy Jo Martin, CEO and Founder of Digital Royalty, a Social Media agency, spoke at TEDx, where she delivered a relatable and inspirational presentation or “talk” as they called it on “Innovating Your Life”.
What made her talk so inspirational? To me it was her story telling. It’s always good to give a personal spin to a presentation, allowing the audience to relate to you. Also, her visuals such as displaying photos, key words and more on the screen. Her client list is also helpful in her presentation as everyone loves pop culture in some way or form and she has worked with well-known entertainers such as Shaq. Finally, her delivery of the presentation was not too fast or too slow and she was on point with her visuals. One final note, from a Social Media perspective, the content material was interesting.
Below, you can view the video of her talk to see if you agree.
What characteristics make a good presenter and what makes a good presentation?
