Bourbon Street, Beignets and Branding: AMA Symposium for the Marketing of Higher Education 2012

What does Bourbon Street, branding, a hip-hop President, and beignets all have in common?  They were all a part of the American Marketing Association’s Symposium for the Marketing of Higher Education conference in New Orleans!  Since my work in the higher education space has increased over the past few years, I was really interested in learning about the industry specific trends from some of the most innovative marketers out there! What better way to capture all of the great information that I learned than highlight reel of my favorite tweets from the conference.

Today, more than 50 million Americans have student loans, which is more than people on Medicare.  The value of education is under pressure now more than ever.  Institutions must prove their value to prospective student to get ahead.

Facebook Ch-Ch-Changes…It’s Kind of a Big Deal!

Change is good, right? HECK YES! This week, Facebook announced a number of changes that affect businesses. Here’s the quick and dirty report of what you’ll need to know! 

Timeline for Businesses:

Ready, set, time to get creative!  In efforts to make pages more engaging and social, Facebook announced that all Fan Pages will covert to the Timeline format by March 30th.  Just think of all the great things you can do with that big juicy cover photo (no advertising or promotions allowed).  There are many changes that come along with the new format that you should be aware of, most notably, we will see the extinction of “Landing Pages.”  There are however, MANY great new features. It’s all about ME…Intel’s Facebook Museum of Me that is!
